ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 29. Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev announced the signing of contracts worth more than $8 billion for the implementation of complex projects in the energy sector, Trend reports.
According to Satkaliyev's statement at the government meeting, three contracts have already been signed for the implementation of complex projects in the field of hydrocarbon production. One of the contracts is between KazMunayGas and Lukoil companies for hydrocarbon manufacture at Kalamkas Sea, Khazar, and Auezov fields. Under this contract, it is expected to invest about $6 billion between 2023 and 2029. The labor force involvement will be about 2,000 employees during the construction phase and 200 during the operational phase starting in 2029.
A model contract was also signed between KazMunayGas and Tatneft for hydrocarbon exploration in the Karaton subsalt area. The volume of investments under this contract will amount to about $2 billion. It also provides for the involvement of 2,000 workers for the construction period from 2023 to 2030 and 190 people after 2030.
The contract was also signed with Urikhtau Operating Company for production at the East Urikhtau field. The investment here is estimated at 51 billion tenge ($110 million). It is expected to employ 300 people during the construction phase and 110 people during the operational phase.
Under the new model subsoil use contract for complex projects, significant regulatory and fiscal preferences are provided. Additionally, in 2023, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, in cooperation with deputies, developed a package of amendments to the Code of Kazakhstan "On Subsoil and Subsoil Use" aimed at stimulating exploration works. This package is now under consideration by the Majilis.
