ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 8. It is planned to deploy 782 base stations of the fifth generation network (5G) in Kazakhstan until the end of this year, Trend reports.
This was stated during a meeting between the Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Telecom, Kuanyshbek Yesekeyev, and the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to Yesekeyev, one of the priorities for Kazakh Telecom is the construction of a 5G network, which by 2027 should include over 7,000 base stations throughout the country.
In addition, as Yesekeyev noted, within the framework of the national project "Accessible Internet", the company intends to provide connections to the Internet using optical technologies for about 1,200 villages and cover republican roads with high-quality Internet access using LTE technology.
The revenue of Kazakhstan's largest telecom operator, Kazakhtelecom, increased by 10 percent in the first half of 2023 and exceeded 330 billion tenge, or about $715 million (from 301 billion tenge, or about $653 million, in the first half of 2022).
The company's net profit climbed by 16 percent and reached 58.5 billion tenge, or roughly $127 million (50.5 billion tenge, or roughly $110 million, in the same time in 2022).
Kazakh Telecom is the largest telecommunications company in Kazakhstan and has the status of a national telecom operator. Kazakh Telecom was founded on June 17, 1994.
