ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 18. Mastercard has chosen the city of Almaty as a regional hub in the CIS, Central and Eastern Europe for the development of consulting direction, Trend reports.

This was stated by the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Bagdat Musin following the meeting of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with the Executive Vice President of Mastercard Nicola Villa in New York.

According to him, in this regard, a digital partnership agreement was signed between the Ministry of Digital Development and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan and Mastercard.

"Mastercard chose Almaty as the city in which it will form a regional hub. There are three regional hubs around the world that Mastercard has chosen. And now we are becoming another regional hub. We will also promote Kazakh IT solutions and digitalization of the entire country through the Mastercard platform. Our experience in digitalization was highly appreciated by Mastercard and wants to promote our IT products around the world. This will have a very positive impact on the promotion of IT exports of our country," he said.

As Mastercard Executive Vice President Nicola Villa previously said at a meeting with Tokayev, Mastercard plans to promote Kazakh GovTech solutions abroad, especially in developing and emerging markets.

Villa said other countries where the company operates are actively interested in Kazakhstan’s experience in the fields of digitalization, the development of e-government, and the cashless economy.

During the meeting, prospects for cooperation in the areas of developing the financial sector, the IT industry, and improving the digital competence of small and medium-sized enterprises were also discussed.
