ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 21. Investments in the amount of $4 billion were attracted to the tourism industry of Kazakhstan from 2020 through 2022, Erzhan Erkinbaev, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan said, Trend reports.
As he noted, last year the volume of investments amounted to 513.3 billion tenge (about $1.07 billion). In addition, over the indicated period, more than 400 tourist facilities were built in the country.
"The state is actively attracting private capital to develop domestic tourism. Since last year, state support measures have covered projects for the construction of tourism facilities, the development of ski resorts and the purchase of tourist buses. Subsidies are also provided to tour operators for attracting foreign tourists. In addition, children's air tickets are subsidized for Kazakh citizens traveling within the country. Particular attention is paid to attracting foreign investors, including through the provision of various preferences," he added.
The number of domestic tourists in Kazakhstan reached 8.6 million people at the end of 2022. This is 1.7 million higher than in 2021. In addition, the number of recreational facilities in the country has increased. Thus, in 2022, 284 new places to accomodate tourists appeared, and their total number in the country reached four thousand.
