Kazakhstan names volume of investments attracted to Abay region

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 3. Over 295 billion tenge (about $618 million) of investments were attracted to the Abay region of Kazakhstan from January to August 2023, Trend reports.

The main share of investments was made from the own funds of enterprises and organizations. 22.9 billion tenge (about $48 million) were allocated from the republican budget, and 30.3 billion tenge (about $63.4 million) from the local budget.

Industrial sector:

Industrial production in the region increased noticeably, reaching 946.4 billion tenge (about $1.96 billion), which corresponds to a development index of 107.6 percent. Mining and quarrying are key, accounting for 59.9 percent of total production. During this period, products worth 567 billion tenge (about $1.18 billion) were produced.

Agriculture:

The volume of gross agricultural output amounted to 243.9 billion tenge (about $510.8 million). During this period, 56,400 tons of livestock and poultry were sold, as well as 416,700 tons of milk.

Construction:

The volume of construction work increased by 37.2 percent and amounted to 89.4 billion tenge (about $187 million). 165,900 square meters of housing were put into operation, which is 128 percent of the plan.

Small and medium-sized businesses:

There are 54,200 small and medium-sized businesses in the region. Under the business support and development program, guarantees were issued for 201 projects in the amount of 3 billion tenge (about $6.3 million), and 265 projects were subsidized in the amount of 12.5 billion tenge (about $26.2 million).
