ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 4. Kazakhstan may start importing aviation fuel from Turkmenistan, said Vice Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov, Trend reports.

"Turkmenistan, like us, is an oil country. They have processing facilities. They generally export their products through the Caspian Sea. At the beginning of this year, we considered the option of testing aviation fuel produced in Turkmenistan. For this purpose, appropriate volumes of aviation fuel were imported. The fuel was sent directly to the laboratory. We are waiting for the conclusion," he said.

Speaking about possible supplies of gasoline and fuel from Turkmenistan, he noted that this is impossible.

"The cost of the product also includes transportation. If we consider the transport distance, then with Turkmenistan and from other countries it will be much more expensive compared to the Russian Federation," he said.

Akkenzhenov noted that, Kazakhstan will consider other opportunities as well.

"We talked with our Azerbaijani and Uzbek counterparts. Just the day before yesterday, I had a conversation with the Vice-Minister of Uzbekistan. There is not enough gasoline in Uzbekistan. That's why our colleagues ask us to share. We will consider the supply of diesel fuel. We are not talking about any volumes. This was a preliminary conversation," he added.

In 2022, 43,200 tons of aviation fuel worth almost $40 million were imported to Kazakhstan, despite the fact that it was not purchased over the previous two years.
