ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 11. Kazakhstan has the opportunity to import additional volumes of gas from Russia, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev told reporters, Trend reports.
"Three large projects are already being implemented to cover the internal gas shortage. One of them is at the stage of physical implementation, in the investment phase, another one is at the design stage, and the third one is at the stage of making key decisions," he said.
According to him, completion of these projects is planned in 2028-2029.
"That is, until these capacities are commissioned, we have the opportunity to accept additional volumes of gas from the Russian Federation, which will cover the needs of our economy," he added.
Gas production volume in Kazakhstan for 2022 amounted to 53.3 billion cubic meters, or 103.1 percent of the 2022 plan. Commercial gas production amounted to 27.8 billion cubic meters, or 94 percent of the plan.
Domestic consumption of commercial gas in Kazakhstan amounted to 19.3 billion cubic meters, or 107.2 percent of the 2022 plan, exports - 4.6 billion cubic meters, or 85.1 percent of the plan.
The volume of liquefied petroleum gas production (supplied to the domestic market) amounted to 2.8 million tons, or 98 percent of the plan.
