Kazakhstan presents draft republican budget for 2024-2026

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 4. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Yerulan Zhamaubayev presented the draft law "On the republican budget for 2024–2026" at a plenary meeting of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.

Zhamaubayev noted that revenues for 2024 are projected at 20.4 trillion tenge (about $44.2 billion).

According to him, the budget deficit is estimated at 2.6 percent of GDP. Budget expenditures for next year are planned to increase by 1.5 trillion tenge (about $3.25 billion) in relation to 2023 and will amount to about 24 trillion tenge (about $52 billion).

In general, most of the republican budget is aimed at the full implementation of state and social obligations and the development of regions. Thus, 5.4 trillion tenge (about $11.7 billion) accounts for the payment of pensions and benefits; taking into account indexation, 2.4 trillion tenge (about $5.2 billion) will be used to develop the healthcare system, including the implementation of the national project "Modernization of Agriculture". Also, 1.7 trillion tenge (about $3.68 billion) will be allocated for the development of the education sector, in particular for the implementation of the national project "Comfortable School".

Zhamaubayev also spoke about the parameters of regional development expenditures. More than 7 trillion tenge (about $15.1 billion) are allocated for these purposes.

As he noted, 3.5 trillion tenge (about $7.6 billion) is planned for the employment of citizens within the framework of the program to increase the income of the population. Of this, 2.5 trillion tenge (about $5.4 billion) is provided for increasing the wages of more than 1.5 million workers.

The minister added that 2.8 trillion tenge (about $6.07 billion) will be allocated for the development of the real sector of the economy. The expenditures of security forces are planned in the amount of 2.6 trillion tenge (about $5.6 billion).
