BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. A new gas pipeline will be built from Kazakhstan’s Aktobe Region to Kostanay, Akim (Head) of Kostanay Region Kumar Aksakalov said during the working trip of First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar to the region, Trend reports.
Aksakalov noted that the implementation of a large-scale project will allow gasification of both settlements and large investment projects requiring a large amount of fuel. In the Kostanay Region only 28 percent of rural settlements are provided with central gas supply. Therefore, this project is very significant for the residents of the region.
The instruction on the construction of the main gas pipeline from Aktobe Region to Kostanay was given by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a working trip to Kostanay Region in January this year. The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with NC QazaqGaz JSC immediately began to develop a feasibility study. Currently, the work is underway.
"Large volumes of gas will be required for the implementation of the project for the production of hot briquetted iron - raw materials for the steel industry. Meanwhile, having the necessary raw material base and qualified personnel, we need to strive to establish high value-added production – final products that meet international quality and environmental standards," Sklyar said.
In addition, he noted that the executive power (akimat) should work with investors to synchronize the implementation of their projects, taking into account the provision of the region with additional volumes of gas in the future.
The executive power of the region said that the implementation of this project is a powerful breakthrough for the region. It will allow to implement a "loopback" with the existing gas transmission network of the republic and will ensure the growing needs of the region for natural gas, including for the development of competitive production.
