ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 21. KazMunayGas JSC (KMG, Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company) has acquired 100 percent of the shares of Total E&P Dunga GmbH in the Dunga oil and gas field from TotalEnergies EP Danmark A/S (a subsidiary of TotalEnergies), Trend reports.
The deal took place in accordance with the terms of the purchase and sale agreement previously signed between KMG and TotalEnergies EP Danmark A/S.
KMG now owns a 60 percent stake in the Production Sharing Agreement at the Dunga field.
The Dunga oil and gas field is located in the Tupkaragan district of the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan. The oil and gas field was discovered in 1966. The Dunga project is being implemented under the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA).
The current participants in the PSA are Total E&P Dunga GmbH (60 percent), Oman Oil Company Limited (20 percent), and PTT Exploration and Production (20 percent).
TotalEnergies has been active in Kazakhstan since 1992, and it is one of the main shareholders (16.81 percent) in the North Caspian Project consortium.
The three largest fields play a significant role in the development of Kazakhstan in the oil and gas complex: Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan.
The volume of oil production in 2022 in Kazakhstan amounted to 84.2 million tons, or 101.6 percent of the planned figure.
The Tengiz field produced 29.2 million tons of oil, or 100 percent of the 2022 plan. Oil production at the Karachaganak field amounted to 11.3 million tons, or 103.8 percent of the plan. At Kashagan, oil production amounted to 12.7 million tons, or 109.5 percent.
Oil exports in 2022 reached 64.3 million tons, or 103.4 percent of the plan.
Kazakhstan also plans to produce 90.5 million tons of oil in 2023, of which 71 million are planned to be exported.
The volume of oil production in Kazakhstan at the end of 2021 amounted to 85.9 million tons; in 2020, it was 85.7 million tons.
