ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 29. The Mangystau region is one of the leaders in terms of gas availability in Kazakhstan, 99.9 percent or about 766,000 people have access to natural gas, said Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Askhat Khasenov, Trend reports.
To provide the population of the region with gas, work was carried out to modernize the main gas pipelines.
Four large infrastructure projects were implemented for a total amount of 230.6 billion tenge (about $503.5 million).
In particular, the construction of the second line of the Beyneu-Zhanaozen gas pipeline was completed, which made it possible to increase the pipeline's throughput to 8.9 billion cubic meters.
As Khasenov noted, liquefied petroleum gas is also relevant for the region.
There are 433 Automobile LPG filling station in the region. Consumption of liquefied petroleum gas in the region from January through October 2023 amounted to about 170,000 tons.
In general, at the end of 2022, the level of gas supply to Kazakhstan was 59 percent. 142 gas projects worth 96.1 billion tenge (about 201.4 million) were implemented in the regions, which made it possible to provide access to natural gas to 285,000 citizens in 107 rural settlements.
In 2023, it is planned to increase the share of gas supply to the population to 60 percent with the implementation of 86 projects for a total budget investment of 74 billion tenge (about $155.1 million).
This will provide gas supplies to 167,000 citizens in 56 rural settlements. As a result, 11.4 million citizens of the republic will have access to gas.
