ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 30. The East Kazakhstan region's Gross Regional Product (GRP) will reach 4.4 trillion tenge (about $9.57 billion) by the end of 2023, a three percent increase over 2022, said the head of the region Yermek Kosherbayev, Trend reports.
As he pointed out, industrial production accounts for the lion's share of GRP (35 percent). Agriculture accounts for 8 percent, trade for 16 percent, and transportation and construction account for five percent.
By the end of this year, industrial production will have increased by nine percent, agriculture by five percent, fixed capital investment by seven percent, and retail trade turnover by eight percent.
The region's unemployment rate, according to Kosherbayev, is 4.6 percent. Over 30,000 employment have been generated. 23,000 of these are permanent positions. The average monthly pay increased by 18 percent to 305,000 tenge (about $663).
The region's industrial sector is home to 1,007 businesses. There are 76 huge and medium-sized ones among them. The industry employs 47,000 people in total.
The involved region accounts for five percent of the republic's industrial production.
From January to September 2023, Kazakhstan produced industrial items worth 33.972 trillion tenge (about $70.9 billion). These goods were manufactured in the mining industry for 15.925 trillion tenge, or about $33.2 billion (46.9 percent of total volume), and in the manufacturing industry for 15.890 trillion tenge, or approximately $33.16 billion (46.8 percent).
In addition, production increased by 5.4 percent in the mining and quarrying industry, 3.2 percent in the manufacturing industry, 5.1 percent in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air conditioning, and 5.6 percent in waste collection, processing, and disposal and pollution elimination activities.
