ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 11. Kazakhstan's Qazaq Air is considering the possibility of attracting jet aircraft to expand its flight geography, a source at the company told Trend.
"Qazaq Air utilizes De Havilland Canada Dash-8 Q400 regional aircraft produced in Canada. These aircraft provide unsurpassed economics on inter-regional, low-volume routes that need flights to airports with limited infrastructural support," the source said.
As he noted, the airline plans to increase the number of aircraft.
"In the medium term, it is planned to increase the fleet of the same type, and in the long term, the possibility of attracting a jet fleet to expand the geography of flights is being considered," the source noted.
According to the source, Qazaq Air carried 460,000 passengers from January through September 2023, which is a record for the same period since the start of operations in 2015.
"In the third quarter of this year alone, the airline operated 2,437 flights, which is 9 percent higher than last year. The growth was achieved thanks to the expansion of the airline's hub route network with a base in Astana," the source said.
Qazaq Air is an interregional airline created by the National Welfare Fund of Kazakhstan, Samruk-Kazyna JSC, to improve the safety and accessibility of interregional air traffic in Kazakhstan and the border areas of neighboring countries.
