ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 18. Kazakhstan will study Hungary’s experience in wastewater treatment and its use, Trend reports.
This was agreed upon during a meeting between Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Bolat Bekniyaz, and the co-chairman of the Hungarian Water Partnership, Robert Forintos.
As a result, the parties agreed to plan a visit to Budapest by Kazakhstan's water experts to evaluate the key water treatment facilities in Hungary as part of the Kazakh-Hungarian working group conference in 2024.
Furthermore, Hungarian experts will provide guidance on wastewater treatment challenges in compliance with the EU legislative framework.
As Bekniyaz noted during the meeting, Kazakhstan pays great attention to the introduction of recycled water supply in all sectors of the economy. In this regard, it is extremely important for the Ministry to develop a detailed regulatory standard for the reuse of wastewater for irrigation of industrial crops," he said.
Meanwhile, trade volume between Kazakhstan and Hungary climbed by 24.4 percent to $124.2 million (compared to $99.8 million in the same period in 2022).
Between 2005 and 2022, the gross inflow of direct investment from Hungary into Kazakhstan was $318.7 million.
In Kazakhstan today, 42 Hungarian companies (including the oil and gas business MOL and the pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter) and 56 joint ventures operate.
As the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov previously stated, Kazakhstan sees significant potential for increasing trade with Hungary and is ready to boost the export of Kazakh products to Hungary across 95 items worth about $700 million.
