ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 19. The volume of cargo handling at airports in Kazakhstan amounted to 130,000 thousand tons from January through November 2023, said Transport Minister Marat Karabayev at a government meeting, Trend reports.
As he noted, this is 16 percent more than in the same period in 2022.
At the same time, Kazakhstan's airlines carried 12.3 million passengers from January through November 2023. The number of passengers transported increased by 23 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
By the end of 2023, the number of passengers transported is planned to increase to 13 million.
In addition, the volume of services at airports has also increased. Thus, compared to the same period in 2022, the volume of services increased by 25 percent.
Significant growth is observed in Almaty and Astana: 9 million (34 percent more) and 7 million (26 percent more) passengers served, respectively.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan now operates flights to overseas destinations in 28 countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, the UK, Vietnam, Germany, Georgia, Egypt, India, Iran, Italy, Qatar, China, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, the Maldives, Mongolia, the Netherlands, the UAE, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and South Korea.
Domestic flights in Kazakhstan are operated by 5 local airlines on 50 routes. The frequency of flights is 640 per week.
