ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 20. Kazakhstan plans to build new reservoirs as well as reconstruct existing ones in the next few years, Trend reports.

These measures are reflected in the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Water Resources for 2024–2030, prepared by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan.

Thus, during this period of time, Kazakhstan will build 20 new reservoirs as well as reconstruct 15 existing reservoirs and more than 14,000 kilometers of irrigation systems.

According to the Comprehensive Plan, thanks to these measures, the Ministry intends to provide the population with high-quality drinking water, increase the reserves of available water resources in the country, reduce water losses, and expand the area of irrigated land.

As previously stated by the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, the ministry plans to implement eight projects for the construction and reconstruction of group water pipelines.
