ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 26. The volume of electricity production in the Shymkent region of Kazakhstan amounted to 1.8 billion kWh from January through November 2023, said Vice Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov, Trend reports.
As Yerlan Akkenzhenov noted, electricity consumption in the region is 6.2 billion kWh.
Today, the main source of electrical and thermal energy in the city is 3-Energoortalyk JSC. Its installed electrical power is 160 MW, and its thermal power is 540 Gcal.
According to him, within the framework of the budget program for 2023-2025, funds in the amount of 4.6 billion tenge (about $10 million) are provided for the implementation of a new project, "Construction of a 110/35/10 kV substation and 110 kV electrical networks" in the Yntymak microdistrict of Shymkent.
This project will make it possible to provide uninterrupted power supply to about 45,000 residents of five microdistricts and a new airport terminal in the northwestern part of Shymkent city.
Meanwhile, in 2022, Kazakhstan produced 113.8 billion kWh of electricity, which is 1.1 percent less than in 2021.
Exports amounted to 2.2 billion kWh (+16.1 percent). The main buyers were: Russia: 1.5 billion kWh (+16.6 percent); Kyrgyzstan: 690 million kWh (+15.1 percent).
In turn, Kazakhstan bought 1.7 times more electricity than a year earlier - 3.7 billion kWh. Most of it was imported from Russia: 1.9 billion kWh (+8.4 percent), and Kyrgyzstan supplied 1.7 billion kWh (+5.6 times).
