ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 28. There are 74.1 million payment cards in circulation in Kazakhstan as of December 1, 2023, Trend reports.
Kazakhstan had 64.353 million payment cards as of December 1, 2022.
According to Kazakhstan's National Bank data, debit cards account for 80.7 percent of all transactions, while credit cards account for 16.5 percent. Prepaid cards and debit cards with credit limits were utilized by 2.8 percent of the population.
At the same time, 38.5 million payment cards were used on December 1, up from 33 million on December 1, 2022.
Eighteen banks and Kazpost JSC provided payment cards. These organizations issue and distribute Visa International, MasterCard Worldwide, UnionPay International, American Express International, and Diners Club International cards.
In addition, banks in Kazakhstan issue payment cards of local systems: Citibank Kazakhstan - Citibank Kazakhstan JSC and Kaspi.kz payment card system - Kaspi Bank JSC.
