ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 14. The volume of wholesale trade in Kazakhstan amounted to 2.644 trillion tenge (about $5.9 billion) in January 2024, Trend reports.
According to data from the country's National Bureau of Statistics, this figure increased by 3.4 percent compared to the same month in 2023.
The structure of wholesale trade turnover is dominated by non-food products and industrial products (80 percent).
As of February 1, 2024, the volume of inventory of trading enterprises in wholesale trade amounted to 1.953 trillion tenge (about $4.3 billion), in trading days - 44 days (as of February 1, 2023, the volume of inventory in retail trade amounted to 1.687 trillion tenge (abot $3.7 billion), in trading days - 44 days).
The largest share in the total volume of wholesale trade of the republic in January 2024 falls on Almaty (38.6 percent), Atyrau region (19.7 percent), Astana (16.8 percent) and Karaganda region (5 percent).
In addition to this, index of physical volume of the trading industry in January 2024 compared to the corresponding period last year amounted to 103.5 percent (January 2023 - 119.4 percent).
A significant share of the total industry volume falls on wholesale trade, the share of which is 69 percent, retail trade – 30.7 percent.
