ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 29. Subsidiaries of Kazakhstan's Baiterek (National Managing Holding) have supported enterprises in non-resource sectors of the economy for a total amount of 2.8 trillion tenge (about $6.2 billion) in 2023, Trend reports.

This was announced during a meeting of the Board of Directors of Baiterek Holding, chaired by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov.

It was noted that the volume of support in 2023 exceeded the figures for 2022 by 45 percent.

At the same time, in 2023, more than 71,000 companies and organizations that were not subjects of the quasi-public sector were supported in the amount of 2.5 trillion tenge (about $5.5 billion).

In addition, the total amount of financing in the agricultural sector for 2023 amounted to 665.2 billion tenge (about $1.4 billion). Thanks to the holding’s support measures, more than 6,000 new jobs were created, products were produced, and services were provided in the amount of 3.8 trillion tenge (about $8.4 billion).

After hearing the report, the Prime Minister noted that the holding needs to revise the procurement rules as soon as possible in the direction of increasing the share of domestic goods.

"If we provide support to an entrepreneur, he must take on reciprocal obligations - to establish in Kazakhstan the production of those goods that he is currently importing, to increase labor productivity and the level of wages of workers, and to attract Kazakh enterprises as subcontractors and suppliers," the PM said.

Meanwhile, Baiterek implements Kazakhstan's strategic policies for economic diversification and development in three key sectors: SMEs and export-oriented processing industries; affordable housing; and lending and leasing services to agricultural businesses.
