ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 4. Over 1,270 money transactions from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan through international money transfer systems (IMTS) were made in January 2024, Trend reports.
The data from the Central Bank of Kazakhstan shows that the total volume of the above transactions amounted to 855.7 million tenge (about $1.9 million).
Thus, Azerbaijan's share in the number of transactions and the volume of remittances from Kazakhstan in January amounted to 0.8 and 1.6 percent, respectively.
In addition, about 460 money transfer transactions from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan through IMTS were made for a total amount of 299.9 million tenge (about $660,000). Here, Azerbaijan’s share in the number of transactions and the volume of transfers amounted to 0.6 and 1.5 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the volume of money transfers through international money transfer systems (IMTS) in Kazakhstan amounted to 162,700 transactions worth 54 billion tenge (about $120 million) in January 2024.
Compared to December 2023, there is a decrease in the number of transfers by 25.3 percent and a decrease in the volume of transactions by 27.6 percent.
The share of money transfers carried out in January 2024 on the territory of Kazakhstan is 1.3 percent of the total number and 2.8 percent of the total amount of money transfers via IMTS.
The share of money transfers sent abroad is 98.7 percent and 97.2 percent, respectively.
