Kazakhstan recaps number of oil, gas fields put into operation in 2023

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 5. In 2023, 30 oil and gas fields were transferred from the exploration stage to production in Kazakhstan, said the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev during a meeting of the board, Trend reports.

"In Kazakhstan, in 2023, 30 fields with a volume of recoverable oil reserves of 115.6 million tons and gas reserves of 25 billion cubic meters were transferred from the exploration stage to production. Within 3 years, these deposits will enter commercial development," he said.

According to him, gas production began at three fields in 2023 (Rozhkovskoye, South Aksay, and Anabay), with a volume of recoverable gas reserves of more than 31 billion cubic meters.

Earlier, Satkaliev said that in 2023, the oil production in the country amounted to about 90 million tons, although it was initially planned to produce 92–93 million tons of oil. Moreover, the country plans to increase oil production in 2024 to 90.3 million tons.

Furthermore, gas production volume in Kazakhstan amounted to 59.1 billion cubic meters in 2023. The volume of liquefied petroleum gas production at the end of 2023 amounted to 2.95 million tons, and consumption was 1.8 million tons. In addition, in 2024, 60.5 billion cubic meters of gas are expected to be produced in the country. The forecast for 2024 for liquefied petroleum gas production is 2.95 million tons, and consumption is 2.1 million tons.
