ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 5. Kazakhstan earns about $170 million per year from the transit of Russian oil to China, said Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akkenzhenov during the board meeting, Trend reports.
"An agreement was signed for 10 years in advance for the supply of 10 million tons per year. Our country, directly and indirectly through exchange operations, will earn about $1.7 billion for the entire period. The amount per year is $170 million," he said.
As KazTransOil previously reported, the cost of transporting 10 million tons of Russian oil per year through the territory of Kazakhstan to China will be $15 per ton, excluding VAT.
Oil will flow along the Russian-Kazakhstan border (Priirtyshsk)-Atasu (Kazakhstan)-Alashankou (China) route.
The approved cost will stay at the level set in 2018 by Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy's order for 2019–2023.
Meanwhile, in 2014–2016, seven million tons of Russian oil were transited annually through the territory of Kazakhstan. Since 2017, the annual supply of Russian oil along the Priirtyshsk–Atasu – Alashankou route has increased to 10 million tons.
In 2014–2023, KazTransOil JSC supplied 91 million tons of Russian oil via the territory of Kazakhstan to China.
