ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 16. Kazakhstan expresses readiness to expand export supplies to Uzbekistan, said Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Oljas Bektenov during a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulla Aripov in Tashkent, Trend reports.

"Kazakhstan is ready to expand export supplies to Uzbekistan in the amount of almost $500 million for 255 items," he said.

The PM noted that the presidents of the two countries set the task of bringing Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation to a qualitatively new level. "We see significant potential for increasing trade turnover and will make every effort to achieve high results from our interaction in both bilateral and multilateral formats," he said.

In turn, Abdulla Aripov noted specific tasks for the further expansion of multifaceted relations between the two countries. "I express my readiness to take all necessary measures to fulfill these tasks," he said.

In addition, the parties noted significant progress in the field of industrial cooperation and outlined the great potential for further development. Currently, within the framework of industrial cooperation, 60 projects are being implemented for a total of $2.6 billion, resulting in the creation of more than 13,300 jobs. An additional 43 projects are promising.

Following the negotiations, Oljas Bektenov and Abdulla Aripov confirmed the governments’ readiness to make every effort to ensure the progressive development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan across the entire spectrum of bilateral interaction.

Meanwhile, trade turnover volume between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $271.2 million in January 2024. The export volume reached $76.3 million, while imports amounted to $194.9 million.
