Turkish Alarko Holding discloses plans for future investments in Kazakhstan

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 16. Turkish Alorko Holding plans to invest $650 million in the agro-industrial sector of Kazakhstan in the next 5 years, said Deputy General Director of Alarko Holding Abbas Shahin, Trend reports.

He made the remark during a conference organized in Istanbul with the participation of more than 50 major Turkish business groups.

"Kazakhstan's economy is growing steadily, and the nation effectively manages an open-door policy toward other nations. With a total investment of $2.6 billion, the holding has completed 18 contract projects in Kazakhstan thus far. Additionally, the holding intends to spend $650 million in Kazakhstan's agro-industrial sector over the course of the next five years," he said.

Yusuf Aydemir, the CEO of Iskefe Holding, responded by stating that the company is working on the first gelatin production project in Central Asia through the Holding in Almaty and that the business group is generally interested in carrying out more investments in a leather processing project in Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, Yerkebulan Sapiyev, the Kazakhstani ambassador to Turkey, discussed the latest actions implemented by the Kazakh government to enhance the nation's investment environment.

Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Türkiye amounted to $6 billion in 2023. The volume of trade turnover decreased by 5.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($6.3 billion).

At the same time, in the structure of trade turnover, exports to Türkiye for the above period amounted to $3.9 billion, which is 16.4 percent less than from January through December 2022 ($4.7 billion).

In addition, imports from Türkiye from January through December 2023 increased by 27 percent and amounted to $2 billion. In 2022, imports amounted to $1.6 billion.
