ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 19. Around 146,400 vehicles were registered in Kazakhstan in January 2024, a 15.3 percent increase over the same period last year, Trend reports.
Data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics shows that the number of buses climbed by 44.1 percent, trucks increased by 15.3 percent, and passenger cars increased by 11.4 percent.
As of February 1, 2024, Kazakhstan has 5.348 million registered vehicles, with 88.1 percent being passenger cars, 9.8 percent being trucks, and 2.1 percent being buses.
At the same time, compared to the same period last year, the number of passenger cars running on electricity increased 9.2 times, from 914 to 8,366 units.
The largest number of electric vehicles is in the cities of Almaty - 4,946 units and Astana - 1,044 units, as well as in the Almaty region – 379 units.
