ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 20. The volume of wholesale trade in Kazakhstan amounted to 5.498 trillion tenge (about $12.1 billion) from January through February 2024, Trend reports.
According to data from the country's National Bureau of Statistics, this figure increased by 4 percent compared to the same month in 2023.
The structure of wholesale trade turnover is dominated by non-food products and products for industrial and technical purposes (79 percent).
As of March 1, 2024, the volume of inventory of trading enterprises in wholesale trade amounted to 1.941 trillion tenge (about $4.3 billion), in trading days: 42 days. As of March 1, 2023, the volume of inventory in retail trade amounted to 1.537 trillion tenge (about $3.4 billion), in trading days: 40 days.
The largest share in the total volume of wholesale trade of the republic from January through February 2024 falls on Almaty (39.2 percent), Atyrau region (17.9 percent), Astana (16.9 percent), and Karaganda region (4.9 percent).
In addition to this, the index of physical volume of the trading industry from January through February 2024 compared to the corresponding period last year amounted to 104.2 percent (from January through February 2023, 111.5 percent).
