Russia's Rosatom briefs on important areas of collaboration with Kazakhstan (Exclusive)

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. The main project of cooperation between the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation "Rosatom" and Kazakhstan is joint uranium production on the territory of Kazakhstan, a source in the corporation told Trend.

"Russia and Kazakhstan have a long history of trade and economic relations. Joint work is being carried out on a number of strategic projects important for our countries. The main project is joint uranium mining: on the territory of Kazakhstan, at five joint mining enterprises, uranium is being extracted using advanced environmentally friendly in-situ leaching methods," the source emphasized.

The source also pointed out that important areas of cooperation between the parties also include supplying fuel for research reactors, handling spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste, nuclear research technologies, petrochemicals, and thermal power projects.

To note, Rosatom is a diversified holding company encompassing assets in energy, engineering, construction, logistics, medicine, and digital technologies. The corporation's portfolio of foreign orders currently has 33 units in 10 countries, of which 22 units in seven countries are under construction.

Rosatom is the only company in the world that has competencies across the entire technological chain of the nuclear fuel cycle, from uranium mining to the final stage of the life cycle of nuclear facilities.
