ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 27. Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev during his visit to Beijing has discussed the expansion of transport routes with representatives of the largest transport companies in China, Trend reports citing the ministry.
"During the negotiations, the parties discussed problems of collaboration, such as increasing transport routes, improving transit conditions via Kazakhstan's territory, and introducing innovative technology to enhance logistics processes," the ministry said.
In addition, the importance of interaction and investment in promising projects aimed at improving the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan and China, as well as strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, was noted.
To note, meetings took place with representatives of Khorgos International Freight Forwarding Co. Ltd., Xinjiang China European Joint Logistic Company, China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., Changjiang Construction Investment Co., Ltd., YTO Express Co., Ltd., Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, China Railway Intermodal Transport Information Technology Co Ltd. and PetroChina International.
Notably, China became Kazakhstan's major commercial partner in 2023. In 2023, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with China was $31.4 billion. The volume of trade turnover increased by 30 percent from the same period in 2022 ($24.2 billion).
At the same time, in terms of trade turnover, exports to China during the aforementioned period totaled $14.7 billion, 14.7 percent greater than from January to December 2022 ($13 billion).
In addition, imports from China surged by 50.5 percent from January to December 2023, totaling $16.7 billion. In 2022, imports totaled $11.1 billion.
