ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 4. KTZ Express JSC (a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways) and the operator for promoting domestic exports, "QazTrade" Trade Policy Development Center" JSC, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, Trend reports.
The memorandum provides for joining efforts to promote Kazakhstan’s non-resource exports.
According to the KTZ Express, this cooperation will provide access to foreign markets for Kazakh goods, taking into account the provision of optimal supply routes and minimizing transport costs.
To achieve these goals, the parties will actively work on the creation and development of export logistics multimodal services and will also work on issues of integrating information bases to optimize the transportation process.
Notably, the volume of cargo handling by rail in Kazakhstan amounted to 61.6 million tons from January through February 2024. This is 6.1 percent less than the level of the same period in 2023.
At the same time, cargo turnover by rail for the above period amounted to 48.8 billion ton-kilometers, which is 8.2 percent less than from January through February 2023.
