ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 28. The Turkish Tiryaki Agro, together with the Qatari Hassad Food, have begun implementing a project for deep processing of cereals in Kazakhstan's Astana in 2024, said Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov during a government meeting, Trend reports.

"Kazakhstan occupies one of the leading positions in the world in terms of flour export volumes (1.9 million tons). At the same time, as part of further development, it is planned to increase the share of production of highly processed products, such as pasta, confectionery, and starch products. This year, the Turkish company Tiryaki Agro, together with Qatari Hassad Food, began implementing a project worth $400 million for deep processing of cereals in the city of Astana (capacity - 240,000 tons)," he said.

In addition, according to the minister, the local Kostanay Grain Industry Company has begun implementation of a project for deep processing of cereals worth 50 billion tenge (about $113 million) in the Kostanay region (capacity - 330,000 tons).

"At the same time, in the Turkistan region, the Kazcrachmal company is implementing a project for processing corn for the production of starch products with an investment volume of 35 billion tenge, or about $79 million (capacity - 150,000 tons). The final products in the form of starch, gluten, glucose-fructose syrup, lysine, and bioethanol are planned to be exported to world markets," he said.

Saparov noted that, in total, 13 grain processing projects are planned to be launched in Kazakhstan in 2024–2026.

Notably, Kazakhstan plans to double its gross agricultural output within five years. In this regard, the government of Kazakhstan is introducing new approaches to the development of the agro-industrial complex. The corresponding document was approved by the government following a meeting in January.

Thus, a roadmap has been developed that provides for measures in each area of the agro-industrial complex.

In this regard, Kazakhstan will intensify the diversification of crop areas. And this, in turn, will reduce the share of the thirstiest crop and increase the production volumes of highly profitable plants, for example, oilseeds. Along with this, it is planned to introduce water-saving technologies, increase the level of fertilizer application, and intensively update agricultural equipment.

In addition, the roadmap also includes measures aimed at increasing the number of large and small livestock, expanding meat and grain processing, launching dairy farms, and other facilities.

In general, the implementation of the roadmap will allow increasing the gross output of the agro-industrial complex by 2 times to 17 trillion tenge ($38 billion) by 2028.
