ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 31. Italian companies are interested in implementing projects in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
This topic was discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, and the heads of large Italian companies.
Thus, at a meeting with the president of the Leonardo Stefano Pontecorvo, the parties discussed the possibilities of implementing projects in the areas of the aviation industry and the agro-industrial complex. As Pontecorvo noted, Kazakhstan is a strategic partner and a priority country for the implementation of projects.
During the meeting with the President of Dpi Sekur, Vittorio De Blasiis, opportunities for cooperation in the production of personal protective equipment and localization of the production of key elements of safety equipment in Kazakhstan were discussed.
In addition, during negotiations with the General Director of PetrolValves S.p.A. Sandro Malcori, the parties discussed issues of expanding the investment activities of this company in Kazakhstan. In particular, the manufacturer of high-tech fittings plans to increase production volumes and increase Kazakhstani content in its products.
At the same time, the meeting with the General Manager of Agroittica, Carla Sora, was dedicated to the implementation of an investment project for the cultivation of sturgeon species in Kazakhstan. Agroittica is a large producer of sturgeon and black caviar.
Moreover, during negotiations with the president of the Curator company, Fabio Pompei, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of rational use of water resources. The Italian company has expressed interest in implementing projects to digitalize water supply systems, reduce energy consumption required for water distribution, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
In addition, Nurtleu also held a meeting with Marco Beretta, the General Director of Neos Airlines in Kazakhstan and President of the Italian-Kazakh Trade Association. The minister was presented with the "Road to Kazakhstan" project, aimed at increasing awareness of Kazakhstan in Italy.
Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Italy amounted to $16.071 billion in 2023. The volume of trade turnover increased by 7.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($14.9 billion).
At the same time, in terms of trade turnover structure, exports to Italy for the aforementioned period totaled $14.883 billion, a 7.44 percent increase over the January through December 2022 period.
In addition, imports from Italy climbed by 17.3 percent from January through December 2023, totaling $1.237 billion. In 2022, imports totaled $1.054 billion.
