ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 12. Kazakhstan and the European Union plan to reduce the cargo delivery period along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor) to 15 days, Trend reports.
The news followed the launch of the TITR Coordination Platform, in which the European Commission and Kazakhstan participated.
The new platform will work to expand the functionality of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, turning it into a multimodal and competitive route linking Europe to Asia in 15 days or less.
Furthermore, the platform will advance the corridor and coordinate efforts to implement priority physical and soft infrastructure projects in Central Asia. It will also stimulate and coordinate investments in rail, road, and seaport infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan and China will reduce the transit time of goods along the Middle Corridor by half.
Corresponding measures are provided for in the Agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and China on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which was ratified by the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. The agreement was signed in Beijing on October 17, 2023.
Currently, the transit time for transit cargo from China to Europe is 19–23 days, of which through the territory of Kazakhstan – 6 days, and cargo flow – 6 million tons. As part of the agreement, it is planned to increase cargo traffic to 10 million tons by 2027; the total speed of cargo passage from China to Europe will be 12–13 days.
