Kazakhstan sees decline in vehicle production

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 24. The volume of vehicle production in Kazakhstan amounted to 9,091 units in May 2024, which is 34 percent less than the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the Kazakhstan Automobile Union, from January through May 2024, 55,985 units of vehicles were produced, with a total value of 720.4 billion tenge (about $1.55 billion), against 58,505 units a year earlier. Production volumes decreased by 4.3 percent compared to the results of January–May 2023.

Thus, from January through May 2024, 35,549 vehicles were produced in Kostanay (Allur) (an increase of 0.6 percent). In Almaty (Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan, Hyundai Trans Almaty), 16,700 (a decrease of 15.2 percent) passenger and commercial vehicles were produced. In Semey (SemAZ, Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan) – 2,065 units of commercial equipment (an increase of 13.8 percent).

At the same time, in the Karaganda region (QazTehna), 525 units of equipment (an increase of 45 percent), and in Kokshetau (KAMAZ-Engineering), 360 units of commercial vehicles were produced (a decrease of 17.6 percent). Others – 756 units.

In addition, the top five most popular manufactured brands from January through May 2024 (including exports) were Hyundai (16,551 units), Chevrolet (12,776 units), Kia (11,384 units), Jac (6,030 units), and Jetour (4,649 units).

Moreover, by model, the most produced were Chevrolet Cobalt (10,531 units), Hyundai Tucson (9,307 units), Kia Sportage (5,365 units), JetourX70 (2,940 units), and Jac J7 (2,736 units).

The Kazakhstan Automobile Union includes the Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the Association of Automotive Component Manufacturers, the Association of Public Transport, the Association of Importers, the Association of Dealers, the Association for the Sale of Used Cars, and the Association of Automotive Experts and Auditors (conformity assessment of automotive products).
