ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 4. Key milestones of work on strategically important sections have been completed this year as part of the large-scale modernization of Kazakhstan's national road network, Trend reports via the Kazakh Ministry of Transport.

According to the ministry, the length of the renovated roads is about 900 km, significantly improving the country's transport infrastructure.

For instance, work on the national highway "Karaganda – Almaty," which connects the center and south of the country and spans 885 km, is 85 percent complete.

Currently, traffic is allowed on 863 km of the 885 km with new asphalt concrete pavement.

This highway includes the construction of 46 overpasses, 30 bridges, seven interchanges, and 661 culverts.

Significant work has been carried out this year on the "Balkhash – Burylbaital" section.

The laying of new asphalt concrete pavement is 80 percent complete, and traffic is now open on 266 km of the 288 km.

Additionally, the "Kurty – Burylbaital" highway, which is 228 km long, has also been completely resurfaced.

The work on laying asphalt concrete pavement is 85 percent complete. The contractor has begun installing guardrails and road signs.

On the national highway "Bypass of Shamalgan Station", three overpasses, one cattle crossing, one bridge, and three culverts have been constructed. The project is nearing completion, and the road will soon be opened to vehicular traffic.

Moreover, 732 km of the national highway "Aktobe – Kandyagash – Atyrau – Russian border (towards Astrakhan)" has been reconstructed.

A total of 47 overpasses, six interchanges, and 526 culverts have been built.

On the "Aktobe – Kandyagash" section, traffic is allowed along its entire length, with the construction of 18 bridges and eight overpasses.

Asphalt concrete laying is 97 percent complete.

The laying of the top layer of pavement and the road's infrastructure is ongoing.

On the "Atyrau – Astrakhan" section, reconstruction is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The length of the reconstructed section is 212 km, with 82 percent of the asphalt concrete pavement laid, and work is actively continuing.

Upon the road's opening, travel time on the route will be reduced to 2.5 hours, with a traffic intensity of about 5,000 vehicles per day.

Traffic is now open along the entire length of the highway.

On the "Taldykorgan – Ust-Kamenogorsk" highway, work has been completed on 658 km of the 768 km.

On the aforementioned section, 95 percent of the pavement work has been completed, and traffic is allowed on 748 km.

The project includes the construction of 47 overpasses, six interchanges, four cattle crossings, one overpass, 30 bridges, and 526 culverts.

"The above updates will significantly improve transportation conditions and ensure safer and more comfortable travel along the country's key transport corridors," noted the ministry.
