The Kyrgyz MFA explained that the sides will announce results of the talks at a press conference. A source in the Defence Ministry of KR has informed Kazakhstan Today that the US delegation will arrive in Bishkek May 31 and the talks are going to be concluded by the end of the day, reports Trend.

Kurmanbek Bakiyev, President of Kyrgyzstan, stated on April 19, 2006, that Kyrgyzstan was ready to terminate the agreement on the Peter Ganci air base if the talks on the new conditions of its stay - an increase of rent payment - on the territory of the country were not concluded by June 1, 2006. Mr. Bakiyev said that Kyrgyzstan "reserves a right to consider a termination of the bilateral agreement as of 4 December, 2001, in the case that certain circumstances do not allow us to conclude the negotiating process by June 1, 2006."

At a meeting with foreign journalists in mid-May the President of Kyrgyzstan said that the authorities of the republic were "not going to bargain, If the US party believes that Kyrgyzstan has made some wrong calculations let them prove it," - he stressed. Moreover, the head of state noted that Kyrgyz Republic was ready "to reconsider its position" if the US party would prove an unjustified overstating of prices.

The Peter Ganci air base located on the territory of "Manas" airport was created in December 2001 during the antiterrorist operation in Afghanistan. It is operating in compliance of the Agreement between the government of Kyrgyzstan and the USA.
