Foreign scientists participating in archaeological research in East Kazakhstan

(Kazinform) Archaeological expedition from The Institute of Archaeology of Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science continues its research of the necropolis Berel located in East Kazakhstan oblast (region of Kazakhstan).

The works are being held within the framework of realization of the State Program Cultural heritage of Kazakhstan for 2003-2006. Students and teachers from a number of universities of Ust Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk towns are taking part in the expedition, reports Trend.

Leader of archaeological project Zeinolla Samashev stated that main purpose was to obtain further data on architecture and construction technique, level of economic development of ancient nomadic tribes of IV-III c. BC. And another objective is preparation of investigated objects for storage in a museum and reclamation of excavated grounds.

Since the beginning of work we have got an idea to create a museum in the open air, Z. Samashev noted. As the idea is connected with development of local tourism, currently this question is being discussed in Kazakh Culture and Information Ministry.

Besides, there exists one more direction of archaeological works. Within the framework of UNESCO project on studying mounds in association with the scientists of Belgian Ghent University there was started an action on mapping with the help of modern technologies of satellite space communications.

And the third direction is studying ancient mining with participation of the scientists of Mining Museum of Bochum, Germany. They are applying advanced methods of information processing with the help of modern geographical and scanner devices.

International integration in archaeological investigations increases level of scientific research and promotes informational exchange, the archaeologist emphasized. After restoration the most important archaeological evidences will be sent to the Presidents Center of Culture in Astana city.
