Kyrgyz president issues decree to appoint new officials

Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakayev issued a decree making staff changes this morning, the Presidential Administration reported.

Omurbek Babanov was made first vice prime minister. Former Kyrgyz Ambassador to Pakistan Nurlan Aytmurzaev was appointed prime minister. Lada Orozbayeva was made head of the Economic and Social Policies Department in the Presidential Administration.

Bakiyev also appointed former Ambassador to China Kadyrbek Sarbaev as foreign minister. Sarbayev replaced Ednan Karabev who resigned on Jan. 16. Former First Vice Prime Minister Iskenderbek Aidaraliev was made agriculture, water resources and processing industry minister.

Former Kyrgyz Consul General in Istanbul Ruslan Kazakbayev was appointed first deputy foreign minister. Kazakbayev replaced Askar Beshimov.

Bolotkan Kumarov was appointed governor of the Chui province. Kumarov replaced Kubanychbek Siydanov who was made a presidential advisor on Jan. 23..

The heads of the Osh, Sokuluk, Suzak and Lenin city administrations were also appointed.
