"I am utterly against Manas airbase withdrawal from Kyrgyz territory," Topchubek Turgunaliev one of the country's opposition leaders, director of the Freedom and Human Rights Institute said in comment to the president's statement about the American airbase closure, reported 24.kg.
"Kyrgyzstan is in a depressive condition and our relations as with the U.S. so with many Western countries will become worse after the airbase withdrawal," he said.
According to Turgunaliev, Manas and Kant airbases were two geopolitically balanced structures, and if the decision to withdraw the airbase of the antiterrorist coalition was made, we should close the Russian base also.
To his opinion Kurmanbek Bakiev has made such a decision under the Kremlin's pressure and Kyrgyzstan looks like 'a vassal Russian state' now.
