Over 97 maternal deaths registered in Kyrgyzstan in 2009
Over 97 maternal death cases were registered in Kyrgyzstan in 2009, Ajibai Kalmamatov, member of the Parliament said at a session of Social Policy Committee Monday, news agency "24.kg" reported.
As to the deputy it is 26 cases more comparing with 2008 rates. "The highest death incidence was traced in Osh region which is followed by Chui and Naryn regions," Kalmamatov said.
Maternal mortality is an urgent problem which requires close look in Kyrgyzstan. "We should not lay the blame for such a high rate only on medics. Frequently women themselves turn for medical aid in a grave condition just before delivery," the deputy added.
