Kyrgyzstan must justify parliamentary form of government - Otunbayeva
"Kyrgyzstan must prove that the parliamentary form of government may be successful," Roza Otunbaeva, the President of transition period, said today at a forum "Compliance with the law as a guarantee of secure elections".
She said the upcoming parliamentary elections is important for the development of the democratic state. "All political parties and the media should be mindful of their responsibility to the people. But today, unfortunately, there are concerns about the civility of competition between the parties. This is evident in the manner of work and statements. We call to abandon black PR. Many people ask me about it," says Ms. Otunbaeva, news agency "24.kg" reported.
She noted that the new authorities are ready to create all conditions for a constructive dialogue with political parties. "We will take very strict measures if only they will engage in bribery or violate the laws. We will not tolerate acts of violence and incitement of ethnic hatred. If necessary, we are ready to enter a state of emergency and suspend the elections," Otunbaeva explained.
