The Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan will begin consideration of criminal proceedings against Zhazangir Bazarov. He is accused of murder and involvement in riots in the south, as reported by the Human Rights Center "Citizens against corruption", news agency "24.kg" reported.

Reportedly, the case will be considered in supervisory procedure. Previously, Kara-Suu district and Osh regional court sentenced Zhazangir Bazarov to 23 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.

During the preliminary investigation the suspect had been tortured, he repeatedly received threats, and he has incriminated himself. Family members of Zhazangir did not participate in the court trial, as the victim party beat them. Moreover, the investigation and trial did not take into account the fact that Zhazangir came at the request of a policeman along with his mother to give explanations about the cell phone found near his home. In addition, he has an alibi. During his alleged crimes, he was with his family and neighbors in a different area, distant from the crime scene. Therefore, he could not take part in these crimes," the statement reads.

Human right activists note that the criminal case does not provide evidence of Zhazangir's guilt. Everything is based on self-incrimination. "He was the sole breadwinner in his family of four minor children and sick elderly mother, now turned adrift," the statement says.
