"Kyrgyz doctors refuse to work, because of endless inspections," Osh region Coordinator for Health Care Valentina Akimova stated today to journalists at a meeting on the results of public health for 2010 and tasks for 2011, 24.kg reported.

According to her doctors and health workers have to constantly report to all sorts of structures. "We obliged to report to Obligatory Health Insurance Fund, prosecutors, anti-monopoly committee, financial police, Audit Chamber, local authorities and the Health Ministry," she said.

She noted sharp staff shortage due to low salaries in Alai, Chon-Alai and Kara-Gulzha areas. "Especially we need obstetricians and gynecologists, pediatricians, internists and phthisiotherapists. Hence the high rates of maternal and infant mortality and tuberculosis," she added.

"If the government, as promised, will increase salaries for doctors from May 1, I think many of our colleagues, who went to Russia and Kazakhstan, will return home," she said.

In addition, according to Valentina Akimova, the state of forensic medicine in Osh region does not meet modern requirements, material and technical base is out-of-date.
