Kyrgyzstan, EBRD discuss cooperation prospects

First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbaev met with the managing director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Olivier Descamps during the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, the country’s government said on Monday.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbaev met with the managing director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Olivier Descamps during the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, the country's government said on Monday.

Otorbaev informed Descamps about the political situation, priority socio-economic reforms, as well as the investment climate in Kyrgyzstan. The parties discussed implementation of joint projects and cooperation with international financial institutions.

Otorbaev also held talks with the Eurasian Development Bank board chairman Igor Finogenov. The sides exchanged views on the prospects of bilateral cooperation development.

At a meeting with the director of the division of the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, Peter Beck, special attention was paid to the negotiations to issue grants and soft loan worth 30 million euro to Kyrgyzstan. By late this year as is expected, procedures for approving the project will be complete which will allow the country to receive the first tranche already in the first quarter of 2013.
