The meeting of Central Asian and the European Union Foreign Ministers is being held in Bishkek on Tuesday, KyrTAG reported.

"Kyrgyzstan pays great attention to the improvement of ties between the EU and Central Asia," Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdildayev said in his welcoming speech at the meeting.

He said the sides should use full potential in the EU-Central Asian relations.

Abdildayev mentioned that the Central Asian countries are interested in development of multilateral ties with Europe, especially in the spheres of trade and economy.

It is expected that the participants of the meeting will discuss a wide range of issues in the spheres of cooperation and security.

Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan as well as the EU's first High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton are among the participants of the meeting.
