Kyrgyzstan and the European Parliament held a meeting at which the sides held a fruitful discussion about the development of the Central Asian region as well as the intensification of EP-Kyrgyz relations, AKIpress reported on Tuesday.
European Parliament president Martin Schulz at his meeting with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev stressed that Kyrgyzstan is a preferable strategic partner of the European Parliament in the region.
Schulz said that the democracy in the Central Asia is a key issue in the European assessment of the regional development.
He stressed that such president as Atambayev is a guarantor of democracy in the country.
Schulz said that he decided to send a group of experts to Kyrgyzstan to provide the country with consultation assistance due to the upcoming elections in the country.
