A week of sewing industry is taking place in Kyrgyzstan, kabar.kg reports.

President of the Legprom Association Saparbek Asanov told at a press conference at the Kabar News Agency that today the textile and clothing industries are one of the economic sectors.

“Our sector has become one of the 4 priorities. Textile sewing industry has export potential. According to the National Statistics Committee, this sector takes the 3rd place in the export of products “Made in Kyrgyzstan”. At the same time, many questions arise to address and create more favorable conditions for the development of the sector,” he said.

Asanov noted that in this regard Kyrgyzstan hosts the week of the sewing industry. As part of this event, exhibition-fairs are organized, from 13 to 15 round tables will be held to discuss the problems of this sector.

Deputy Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Eldar Abakirov told that the topic of the round table will be the issue of raising education in the sector of light industry, staff turnover, etc.

“We have 14 vocational colleges, which train about 400 specialists in the field of light industry, about 250 technologists, engineers, designers, and fashion designers graduate from universities. In addition, we have 70 vocational lyceums, from which about 4 thousand specialists graduated. It should be noted that, unfortunately, the level of preparedness of these graduates is not at an appropriate level. We will discuss this topic on November 13th. In addition, there will be a round table on access to finance. On November 14, we will discuss improving the competitiveness and quality of goods. As you know, due to the fall of the ruble and tenge, revenues have decreased, so we will discuss the search for new markets,” he said.

Abakirov added that on November 15, the topic of government support for the sector of light industry will be discussed.

“On November 16 a forum will be held with the participation of the Prime Minister, where the results will be summed up. After that, certain items will be included in the government's work plan,” he added.

At the end of the week there will be a fashion show, where young designers will have the opportunity demonstrate their work.
