BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 24. Switzerland will allocate more than $9 million to support the most vulnerable rural communities to build resilience to climate change and natural disaster risks, Trend reports via Kyrgyz Media.

The Swiss embassy stated that the work will focus on strengthening disaster risk management activities to prepare for climate-related natural hazards and reduce their impact on food and nutrition security in Kyrgyzstan.

Around 250,000 households will benefit in Kyrgyzstan's Batken, Osh, Jalal-Abad and Naryn regions. Vulnerable communities will be provided with tools for livestock insurance and food security, as well as training on the most effective measures to increase their preparedness for disasters and crises.

Notably, Switzerland supports Kyrgyzstan in its economic, social, and political transitions. The objective of its Cooperation Programme is to promote peace and social cohesion, as well as responsive and inclusive institutions and sustainable development to improve the well-being of the population.
