BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. Kyrgyzstan has exported more than 8,000 tons of production to Kazakhstan and Russia from January 20 through 26, 2023, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan.
In the reporting period, the main share of export volume of Kyrgyzstan fell on quarantined products of the Chuy region and totaled 8,235 tons, with 2,357 tons of vegetables, 1,079 tons of fruit, and 2,595 tons of nuts exported to Kazakhstan and Russia.
Last week, employees of the Department of Chemicalization, Protection and Quarantine of plants of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Маnаgеmепt and Rural Development of Kyrgyzstan conducted quarantine phytosanitary control of 15,260 tons of domestic agriculture products, which were going to be exported.
According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country’s overall foreign trade turnover amounted to $10.5 billion from January through November 2022. Notably, Russia totaled $2.4 billion in 2022, or 71.8 percent of Kyrgyz total foreign trade, seconded by Kazakhstan (25.9 percent). Kyrgyzstan mainly exports textile products, cotton, copper and agricultural products to Russia.
Agriculture is the foundation of the Kyrgyz economy, it made up approximately 20 percent of the country’s gross domestic product. According to the data, Kyrgyzstan manufactured agricultural products worth 354.6 billion somoni ($4.1 billion) in 2022.
