BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 10. Kyrgyzstan is expected to issue more than 5 billion cards by 2027, National Bank of Kyrgyzstan said, Trend reports via Kyrgyz media.
The bank expects 111.2 billion of operations will be carried out via bank cards. The value of operation is forecast to exceed 502.6 billion soms ($5 billion).
Additionally, the number of electronic wallet users should amount to 5.8 million people in five years. According to the forecast, some 34.7 million transactions worth 94 billion soms ($11 million) will be carried out till the reporting time.
The number of electronic wallets used in Kyrgyzstan as of October 2022 reached 5.4 million.
According to the bank, Kyrgyzstan issued 4.8 billion of payment cards by November 1, 2022, with Elkart being the most widely used card. It is an increase of 35.3 percent compared to November 1, 2021.
During the reporting period, some 1,992 ATMs, 15,559 POS terminals and 2,301 payment terminals were operated in the country.
